Since acquiring the newly released Fujifilm X-Half, my mind has been a maelstrom of ideas for a new long term project but indecision and self doubt have created subconscious obstacles as to what form this may take.
The eureka moment came to me at work this morning, the answer hiding very much in plain sight, once I had metaphorically pressed CTRL-ALT-DEL in the old grey matter.
Since the ‘half’ only shoots JPEG, why not do so with all of my gear and document my journey along the way?
A preference for lighter, more compact gear has encouraged me to get out for longer walks and I am now trying to spend less time editing the results.
Experimenting with built in camera profiles has shown me that some of these settings are actually rather good (Olympus grainy film) , so why not trust the camera to do what it was built for?
As with any long term project, initially it may appear easy in the brighter days of summer, the challenge will be in the winter, where grey and unwelcoming conditions will test my mettle.
I have as yet, not thought of a name better than ‘The Jpeg journal’ for this project, ideas are gratefully received!
Meanwhile to make something of a start, a few images shot in Jpeg from the last 10 days….
Really great reds!
I enjoy the posts, the important thing is the camera gets us motivated to shoot. I like what I am seeing!
